Wave Rock, Western Australia

Postby eoinzy » Sun Apr 26, 2009 8:28 pm

I went to see Wave Rock last weekend.

It is situated 4 hours drive from Perth. Its also 4 hours drive from Kalgoorlie so its slap bang in the middle between Perth and Kalgoorlie.

Anyway, its a big rock in the middle of the bush and due to limestone erosion, the side of the rock has formed the shape of a wave. (i'll add photos later if i can).

Anyway, for the 4 hours drive each way, it was definately not worth it. It was good to get on the road again for a day but it wasnt great. there was a wildlife park across the road from it but that was pretty crap too. it had mostly parrots and cockatoos and all sortsa birds. even turkeys, ducks and chicken. the highlight was some bloke runnin over to us to warn us of a wild snake over by one of the enclosures. we went over to see it but couldnt find it. that honestly would have been the best part, if we saw it. there was a cockatoo that said hello to you and did a little dance. that was cool i suppose.

oh and we saw a bush fire on the way back. hmmmm.... :|

I hope you didn't start the bush fire in anger over the 4 hour trip!

lol nah.
i think they were started on purpose by the farmer. sometimes they do burns like that to prevent big fires or to wpe out a field so u can start fresh.

dont think they were started by accident coz they were a perfect square field.

alos, there was some storm on the way back too. lightnin all over the place. was cool.
