by I came across these islands today.
Not exactly a place to travel but I said I'd put it in here anyway.
The Diomede Islands are 2 islands in the Bering Strait. This is halfway between Russias most north easterly point, and Americas most north westerly point, Alaska.
There are 2 islands. The west island belongs to Russia, and the east island is US territory. The funny thing about them though, is that the international date line splits the two of them in half! So, this means that the Russian island is 21 hours ahead of the US Island, even though they're on about 3km apart!
I reckon it would be pretty pointless having a watch on either of those islands though...
