6 Books:
Philosophers Stone, Chamber of Secrets, Prisoner of Azkaban, Order of the Phoenix, Half Blood Prince, Deathly Hallows....

There's also Tales of the Beedle Bard, which is a fairy tale book read within the series... but it's been written as a seperate book as it gives more clues, answers etc :) and there's other School Books like Quidditch rules.

You should read them, Deathly Hallows is amazing... but to really get a grasp of the whole excitement you need to know the full story :)
