GTA IV - Grand Theft Auto 4

I recently got this on the PS3 on the recommendation of a friend.

I had never played HiDef games before so this was my entry into it. While I got used to it fairly fast, I still think it looks amazing. The details on the car are very good, even when you run someone over, you get blokd stains and dents. The Physics is still the same as all the previous games, but I think thats part of the game. If it was realistic, it'd take from the game. I love nothing better than accelerating full speed and crashing, and havig my car fly 50 feet into the air, only to land perfect and keep going down the street!

The controls are nothing new so anyone familiar with the other games will get right into the game. The main problem with San Andreas, I thought, was that you had to keep exercising and changing your haircut and clothes. This made the game feel more like The Sime than Grand Theft Auto! In GTA IV, one of the first things you have to do is change your clothes, but after that, you can do what you want. The mobile phone feature is a nice touch. You can use this to phone people and organise new missions, as well as to enter into Multiplayer mode.

As the game progresses, as usual, the weapons get more interesting, as do the vehicles, with the possibility of flying your own helicopter!

The in-car radion stations are also cool. When I turned it on first, it was on the Rock channell, and Thin Lizzys Chinatown was playing! Also, on the Eastern European station theres a song that won the Eurovision Song Contest a few years back I think. I'm not sure the name of it but I think its that one where they're all jumping around in tiger skins boots and stuff!

One thing about this game though. The playstation 3 that I have here was no hooked up to the internet so it was on firmware version 2.35. As this was before the trophies, I had to restart my game after upgrading the firmware to 2.60. This is the only way to get the trophies, and it wont let you play online without it either.

Overall though, its a very good game. plenty to keep you occupied.
